SADAA ReUnited-Round Table Discussion
How did the politics and protest of the 1960s and 70s galvanise British South Asian writers, performers, and artists, into breaking the boundaries?
Writing and Performance Round Table.
31st March. 6-7.30pm
Untold stories fuelled the growth of writing and performance. SADAA brings together legends – including Jatinder Verma, Meera Syal, Shobana Jeyasingh, Rukhsana Ahmad, Sudha Bhuchar, Romesh Gunasekara and Piali Ray – as they create the timeline linking the prejudice, politics, and protests of the 1960s and 70s to the proliferation of work that emerged in the 1980s and 90s.
SADAA is a national archive that conserves, digitises, shares and celebrates the work of first generation British South Asian artists and is based at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
