THE BLACK ALBUM, National Theatre 2009

Hanif Kureishi’s play, based on his novel of the same name, marked the second decade of the fatwa against Salman Rushdie. It powerfully told the story of the rise of fundamentalist religion in London.
Directed by Jatinder Verma, set design by Tim Hatley and costume design by Claudia Mayer.
Cast: Robert Mountford, Tania Franks, Jonathan Bonnici, Shereen Martin, Nitin Kundra, Glyn Pritchard, Beruce Khan, Sean Gallagher

JOURNEY TO THE WEST trilogy, 2001-2

This trilogy, written & directed by Jatinder Verma and Designed by Claudia Mayer, toured 9 British cities. The trilogy was staged over the course of one day, in each city.

REVELATIONS, 2000

Based on testimonies of young Asian descendants of Kenyan migrants , the play was written & directed by Jatinder Verma, with Design by Claudia Mayer.

THE TEMPEST, 2007-08

Directed by Jatinder Verma, Designed by Claudia Mayer to mark Tara’s 25th Anniversary.
Cast: Robert Mountford, Caroline Kilpatrick, Chris Jack, David Okon, Tom Kanji, Jessica Manley, Keith Thorn

RAMAYANA EXHIBITION, British Museum, 2004

Designed by Claudia Mayer, this was the first-ever exhibition in Britain of the Mewar version of the Ramayana.

MERCHANT OF VENICE, 2005

Adapted to 16th century Kerala in south India – site of one of the earliest Jewish communities in the world – the production was directed by Jatinder Verma, Designed by Claudia Mayer

A new version of Beaumarchais’ classic by Ranjit Bolt.
