In advance of a new version of The Winter’s Tale being presented by the Shakespeare Company Japan in Tagajo near Sendai in 2024, we were invited to deliver a lecture and workshops on our approach to Shakespeare’s late play.
The lecture drew a range of attendees – from Shakespeare Company members and scholars to local citizens; a range echoed in the workshop participants.
Workshops were led by Claudia with Jatinder attending via Zoom from London. The workshops were held in Japanese, working off a literal translation of selected scenes from the play.
The Shakespeare Company Japan is led by Professor Kazumi Shimodate.
